In class we use a program called Wonders. Wonders is an evidence-based K–5 ELA program that empowers students to take an active role in learning and exploration. Your students will enjoy unparalleled opportunities to express and assess themselves through reading, writing, and speaking. They will encounter the right content at the right moment in their learning journey to promote strong educational outcomes for all.
Our Reading block consists of whole group instruction on a comprehension strategy, phonics skill, or writing. After our whole group instruction we will break into small groups for Reading Centers. During this time I will pull a small reading group and the other students will work on centers. These are used to practice comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, spelling, and writing.
This year we will be working on multiple types of writing including narratives, expositories, opinion/ persuasive writings, and research pieces. Students will keep these writing projects at school in their writing folder. This folder will be sent home at the end of the year.
